SOUTHWEST MONSOON, TROUGH OF LPA, THUNDERSTORMS AND MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINS

  • Align planting schedules with updated weather forecasts to maximize water availability and avoid drought or flood periods.
  • Clean canals, dikes, and drainage paths to prevent water from building up, which can damage plant roots and reduce harvest.
  • Strengthen seedbeds and cover young plants with plastic or other protection to shield them from heavy rain.
  • Store seeds, fertilizers, and harvested crops in dry, raised, and covered places to avoid spoilage.
  • Apply fertilizer during dry weather to prevent it from being washed away; it’s better to apply it in parts rather than all at once.

Weed regularly to help crops grow better by reducing competition for nutrients, water, and sunlight. Apply the right amount and type of fertilizer as recommended, and avoid using too much chemical fertilizer to protect the soil and nearby water sources. Clear old plant parts and weeds that attract pests and diseases. Make and use compost or organic fertilizer to improve soil health and reduce the need for chemical products.
